We had the opportunity to collaborate with Disney Japan to design and direct a digital experience that told the story of Disney’s Donald Duck in the user’s every day mobile apps.
Leveraging story and old vintage comic books, XAMA set out to tell the story of Donald Duck through everyday apps such as Weather, Clock, Calendar and Music screens.
While we leveraged classic vintage illustrations of Donald, we wanted to add more life to each individual screen by creating multi-state animations and illustrations pending on the user’s location, time, and weather.
We wanted Donald to experience the user’s day with them. Whether it was waking up in to a lovely morning, or having to endure the rain. The stylized UI while still intuitive and functional became nostalgic and reflected the classic appeal of a character like Donald Duck.
